What if I make a mistake?

If you make a mistake you certainly won’t be the first or last. You are choosing subjects or courses you are less familiar with and therefore unaware of the content. If you adopt the following steps you should be OK.

• Don’t take options because your friends have. These are individual choices and your learning style and interests may differ from your friends. Your career ideas may be different.
• Ask school or your Personal Adviser about the content of courses. How is it taught? Will there be exams or is there more course work. Where will I be learning (college / school / local training providers)?
• Is it a subject I will need in the future for example, if I want to work in the health care sector (Doctor, Nurse, Midwife, Physiotherapist, Radiography, Occupational Therapist) then science will be essential!!!
• Research any career ideas using your careers library.
• Ask your self, will it be something I enjoy?

If you feel you have made a mistake speak to school or Personal Adviser immediately about how you feel. Don’t continue in silence! Where possible school will consider other options.
