What are Academic courses?

• You may already be familiar with Academic courses as they will have made up most of your school life so far. They include subjects such as: -
Math’s, English, Science, ICT, which are compulsory after year 9, but also Additional or Double Science, History, Geography, Art and Design, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, PE, RE, Technology (food design, Resistant Materials).
These subjects are usually done in school, as school has the facilities to accommodate them. Although they are considered academic some are less so than others. For example Technology or Art and Design have vocational aspects to them.
Other subject may be ASDAN (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness COPE) and are portfolio based subjects at silver and gold.
