Getting Involved

'Getting involved' is often a term used relating to Volunteering.  This is where you can give up some of your time to help other people.  This could be for a person or an organisation.  It can be a great experience in many ways.  Volunteering is a great way to:

  • Have fun
  • Make new friends
  • Do something to help another person, group, community or the environment
  • Enhance and widen your field of learning
  • Gain skills employers like
  • Meet people who will give you a valuable future reference

Volunteering will give you a chance to gain some real experience and enables you to show employers that you show initiative and are keen to learn.  Voluntary work should be part of your career planning as a step in the right direction for your future.
